Hadrill & Horstman Pluslite' Table Lamp With Magnifying Glass 1950's
Hadrill & Horstmann'Pluslite' desk lamp. Very good condition, all it needs to bring it to absolute original condition are a couple of screws replaced and a little paint touch up on the base in two places where a couple of holes had been drilled to screw it on to a bench, which I have repaired, also possibly a old style power cord. Reluctant sale, but I haven't the space for it any more. Here's some information that I found on the lamp. Hadrill & Horstmann'Pluslite' desk lamp from the 1940s or 1950's. Quite a rare piece, making for a characterful and stylish addition to any interior space. The silver grey adjustable frame with the unique design of the steel "barrel" counterbalance, features the cast H&H monogram, and a retractable magnifier, it rolls in full motion giving perfect balance to the lamp in all positions. British firm Hadrill & Horstmann created some of the most memorable and innovative lamps and lighting solutions of the 20th century. Hadrill and Horstmann lamps are defined by a unique barrel-weighted counterbalance mechanism and are affectionately known as'Rollers'. Early lamps such as the'Touchlight' from the late 1940's were simple counterbalance designs.

In the 1950's the simple form of the early models evolved into what has become one of the most coveted industrial lighting designs of the 20th century, the barrel weighted'Roller'. A number of unique variations were produced for use in the home, workshop or office. Rare models include the'Pluslite' with it's integrated magnifying lens.
